maybe all we are is a reflection of our parallels.
we only exist as a butterfly effect,
a glass half full of shells and splinters.
our optimistic alter egos look at us and look away.

i'm trapped inside this mirror,
it's so much clearer from this perspective here.
my reflection stares back with empty disappointed eyes,
sympathizing with me, a carbon copy of it's own design.

break the glass now, let me out.
i will be whole again if i can find the other side.
take the mask off, lay it down,
i'm only the broken half of a better man.
i'm only smoke in the mirror.
